Voestalpine Böhler Welding Introduces Low Fume Wires for Safer Welding
On this page
Voestalpine Böhler Welding has developed innovative low fume welding wires to reduce harmful emissions, improving safety for welders.
Researchers Andrea M. and Sebastian L. led the project, designing consumables that lower hazardous elements like manganese and chromium (VI) without compromising welding performance.
¨At the start of the project, a lot of time was put into an extensive literature research and the first samples were produced. We then tested them for fume volume and composition, as well as welding performance. This provided information about possible options for the direction development could take.¨ - Andrea M.
Launched in Europe in September 2023, the new wires meet voestalpine Böhler's high-quality standards. This development is part of the company’s broader commitment to enhancing workplace safety and optimizing welding processes, ensuring healthier working conditions for welders globally.
