Titan Wind Energy has placed an order for welding equipment for its new XXL tower factory in Cuxhaven, on Germany’s northwest coast. The contract is signed with ESAB and covers a wide set of automated welding and handling technologies.

According to the report, the package includes submerged arc welding (SAW) lines, plus rotators, manipulators, and real-time monitoring systems for the recently opened plant. Titan says the goal is to reduce “significant” bottlenecks in the offshore wind supply chain and support Europe’s energy transition.

Titan’s CEO Heiko Mützelburg says the high-automation systems are designed for the specific challenges of 14-metre-class monopiles and should help the site ramp up quickly while stabilising quality.
