Flow Science has rolled its new FLOW-3D AM and FLOW-3D WELD modules directly into the core FLOW-3D 2025R1 release, streamlining access for engineers who model additive manufacturing, welding, casting, and fluid-driven processes. A unified interface with process templates cuts set-up time, while built-in high-performance-computing support is delivering up to nine-times faster runs for laser powder-bed fusion, directed-energy deposition, and precision welding studies.

For welding specialists, FLOW-3D WELD 2025R1 brings templated laser-welding setups, automated parameter studies, and expanded physics that capture heat flow, fluid motion, and keyhole stability in greater detail. Engineers can validate procedures or optimise bead geometry in hours instead of days, an advantage when qualifying new alloys or working under tight production schedules. The additive manufacturing module follows a similar pattern, pairing process libraries with scalability so teams can evaluate build strategies without leaving the software ecosystem.

Beyond welding, the update refreshes particle handling with a discrete-element-method model that now runs across Flow Science’s casting and hydro platforms. Foundries gain sharper solidification and porosity predictions, die-casting teams see better thermal profiling, and hydraulic modellers can simulate rip-rap or grit separation with collision and friction accounted for. Taken together, the 2025R1 suite nudges CFD from a specialist tool into a day-to-day resource for manufacturing engineers looking to shorten design loops and cut physical trial costs.
