AI-Focused Welding Firms Are Collecting Millions
In an era where space rockets are being caught mid-air with ¨chopsticks¨, do you really think the welding industry can't be transformed?🤔
Big news for the welding world! Path Robotics, AI-powered robotic welding company, has secured a whopping $100 million in Series D funding. This investment round was led by Matter Venture Partners and Drive Capital, with a few other big names like Yamaha Ventures and Tiger Global jumping in. The Ohio-based startup is using this fresh capital to ramp up its mission of transforming the welding industry by addressing a critical issue: the labor shortage in manufacturing.
At the heart of Path Robotics’ success is their cutting-edge AI, robotics, and machine learning technology. Co-founder and CEO Andy Lonsberry highlighted that their company is at the intersection of software, hardware, and AI—a combination that’s crucial for reshaping modern manufacturing.
In this context, four videos have been prepared on the current state of autonomous welding; Plate on Plate, Pipe to Pipe, Complex Fabrication and Pole. For those interested, feel free to watch.
Matter Venture Partners’ Haomiao Huang called Path a “game changer,” noting that their tech isn’t just solving today’s labor challenges but also setting the stage for the future of American manufacturing.
Path Robotics already has two robotic welding systems on the market, the AW-3 and the AF-1, which are helping manufacturers across the U.S. and Canada. These systems can weld large parts without human intervention, bringing much-needed relief to an industry that has been struggling to find skilled welders. With this latest round of funding, Path Robotics is not only making waves in the welding world but also ensuring that American manufacturing is ready for its next chapter.
ABOUT PATH ROBOTICS
Path Robotics was founded in 2018 by brothers Andy and Alex Lonsberry with a desire to help fill gaps in the manufacturing industry. As a result, Path Robotics creates robotic systems that leverage state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, machine learning, and computer vision systems to fit-up and weld parts. Path’s mission is to enable robots to build, so humans can create.
