Manual High School in Peoria has received a significant boost in its welding program, thanks to a $210,000 donation from Caterpillar. The company has provided eight advanced VR welding machines, allowing students to practice welding techniques using virtual reality.

Welding instructor Andrew Rice praised the technology for its safety and effectiveness in building student confidence. “The VR machines let students welding practice without waste and analyze their performance in detail,” he said.

Student Julio Hernandez noted that the VR machines help reduce nervousness and make learning #welding more accessible. The new technology is expected to spark greater interest in trade careers and better prepare students for real-world applications.
